It’s been awhile since I’ve revisited 1958’s The Blob, much less the 1988 remake (which I do remember as not being too bad as remakes go). However this interesting post over at the Criterion website sharing behind the scenes photographs of the materials used in making the original film reminds me that perhaps it’s time for a rewatch of both.

(And be sure to note the insertion of a short shot in this obvious re-release trailer highlighting the appearance of Steve McQueen who had become a major star in the meantime):
