I’ve been waiting not-so-patiently until they put this trailer up (which I actually got to see last week in front of the wonderful Francis Ha) to post about the next series of Weekend Classics at the always-terrific Belcourt Theatre. Starting June 29th and running through July 14th, it’s a series of Ray Harryhaussen Double Features, capped off by an outdoor screening of the 1981 version of Clash of the Titans.
To say I’m looking forward to this would definitely be an understatement. Here’s the full line up:
June 29-30: Earth vs The Flying Saucers and 20 Million Miles to Earth
July 6-7: The 7th Voyage of Sinbad and Jason and the Argonauts
July 13-14: The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms and Mysterious Island
July 13: Clash of the Titans
Now of course, I could write a lot about the great Harryhausen and his effects work and influence, but instead I’m going to refer you to this piece which encapsulates all of that very well.
