If the poster up above looks oddly familiar, well, there’s a pretty good reason for that.
Yep, it’s for director Sang-il Lee‘s Japanese remake of Clint Eastwood’s 1992 western Unforgiven. The title of the Japanese remake is Yurusarezaru mono and stars Ken Watanabe, and now we have a full trailer for it. It is in Japanese, and without subtitles, but let’s take a look at it and then one for Eastwood’s movie, and see how similar they actually look, shall we?
Obviously, it’s hard to know what kind of film we’re actually going to wind up with, but from the look of the trailer alone, I’d say that the Eastwood flick is going to be far from the only influence on the Japanese film. Still, it looks like it could be a lot of fun. As you can tell from the poster, it’s opening in September in Japan, and I’ve heard nothing on an actual American release yet, but hopefully we’ll get some kind of word soon, and you know when we do, I’ll let you know about it.
