Saturday Double Feature: The Conjuring (2013) and…

246460id1c_Conjuring_INTL_27x40_1Sheet.inddSaturday on the blog means Saturday Double Feature, right? Remember, the basic idea here is to take a movie that is out in theaters now, and pair it up with another movie from the 1980s or before.. Sometimes the connection will be obvious, and sometimes it’ll be a little less so, but that’s part of the fun.

I actually thought I had already done a Saturday Double Feature post for The Conjuring, but apparently not. Well, that’s actually a good thing, because to be honest, there’s just not a whole lot of movies in the theaters this week that are inspiring any really good connections. That’s not to say that there aren’t any good movies out, just none that really harken back to anything that I would be interested in watching as part of a double feature. Anyway, let’s go ahead and take another peek at one of the Conjuring trailers, shall we?

Okay, so the most obvious flick to pair with this one is The Amityville Horror, (and by that I mean of course the 1979 original, not the 2005 remake) right? Yeah, probably so. But, since that IS so obvious, I thought i’d go with a different choice, one that I suspect fewer people have seen, but one that I really consider a much better and more effective horror film, and one that I think probably atmospherically at least would make a good pair with the current movie. So, from 1963, I offer you The Haunting:

Yeah, I think that would set just the right tone for a night full of creepiness. What do you think? Have you got any other ideas for a good double bill? if so, let me know below. And also let me know of any other upcoming movies you’d like to see “double featured”. Consider it, if you will, your chance to challenge me to come up with an interesting pair.

Until next time, Happy Viewing!
