Saturday Double Feature: Escape Plan (2013) and…

Saturday on the blog means Saturday Double Feature, right? Remember, the basic idea here is to take a movie that is out in theaters now, and pair it up with another movie from the 1980s or before. Sometimes the connection will be obvious, and sometimes it’ll be a little less so, but that’s part of the fun.

Opening this weekend is the new Stallone / Schwarzenegger team up Escape Plan. No, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be a great film, but it does look like an entertaining way to spend a couple of hours.

So, what to pair that up with for a double feature? Yeah, there are a lot of prison escape movies, but I think this week we’ll go with fellow action hero Clint Eastwood’s 1979 feature Escape from Alcatraz.

So  what’s your favorite prison escape movie? Any other ideas for pairing films with Escape Plan? if so, let me know below. And also let me know of any other upcoming movies you’d like to see “double featured”. Consider it, if you will, your chance to challenge me to come up with an interesting pair.

Until next time, Happy Viewing!

Eastwood’s movie is surely worth a watch or two .. but I have no doubt that the modern day classic, Shawshank Redemption, will head most any list of this genre.

I wonder if the Count of Monte Cristo would be included in there … or even started the whole concept. ??
