The Moose Returns

Last year was… let’s say… interesting in a number of ways to say the least.I won’t get into all that’s been going on here, but unfortunately, one of the ways that “interesting” has translated has been “not much blogging”, something I’m determined to rectify in the coming year.

So, surprise, surprise, Durnmoose Movie Musings is back, and hopefully back to stay. I’ve already got a lot on tap for the next couple of weeks, including the return of some favorite regular columns including the Sight an Sound Top 250, Saturday Double Features, and Throwback Thursday where I re-present some of my earlier writings, along with a couple of new features such as “Say ‘Cheese'” where I wind my way through a collection of 100 “Awesomely Cheesy Movies”.

And, of course, there will be the usual movie news and previews (though once again, I should perhaps emphasize that this is not the place to be looking for the latest updates on all the big movie releases – that’s not the purpose of this blog – instead you’ll only find that kind of thing when they pique my interest) and other such thoughts, musings, and essays as they spark my imagination.

So if you’re new here, welcome, an if you’ve been following me for awhile, welcome back. And now, as they say, “On with the show”…

Quick Site Update: This Week

Just a quick note about the blog as the week begins: This is probably going to be another of those weeks without a whole lot of material posted. In particular, there won’t be a Top 250 Tuesday, nor a Thursday Old Time Radio post (though the Saturday Double Feature and the associated guessing game will be making their appearances.

dmmWhy the slowdown? Well, simply put, there are going to be a few other things that are going to require my attention this week. Also, there are a couple of things behind the scenes here that I’m working on that will hopefully a) make the blog as it moves forward just a little better, b) expand its scope just a bit, and c) give me a chance to do a little more original writing and posting, which is what I set this up for in the first place.

So worry not if you see a little less from me this week. Hopefully in the long run it will all be worthwhile. And in the meantime, if you’re looking for some fun reading, well, there is over a year’s worth of posts here for you to take in (yeah, I actually passed the one-year anniversary for the blog without any fanfare back in February), and I will be posting a few links and things over on the Facebook page, so…

One last thing while I’m at it: I really do appreciate all of you, whether you’re regular readers or just dropping by for a little look-see. And I especially appreciate those of you who take the time to “like” my posts and/or comment on them. You guys really keep me going, and though at times I may not be able to respond to individual comment or to acknowledge everyone, it’s all really appreciated.

And, of course, as always, until next time, Happy Viewing!

Quick Site Update: The Moose Is Proud To Be A Lamb

lamb-banner-wideThat’s right, Durnmoose Movie Musings, this here blog, is now a proud new member of the Large Association of Movie Blogs otherwise known as the LAMB. We’re actually Lamb #1740, and right now the site is featured on the front page of their site.. So what exactly is the LAMB? Well, according to their FAQ,

The LAMB (Large Association of Movie Blogs) is the worlds largest film blog directory/community. It was founded 31 oct 2007 by Dylan Fields who still is active on the LAMB with his site Man I Love Films and as LAMBcast host.

They’re also a great resource both for finding out about various movie blogs, things going on in the movie blogging community such as various blogathons or special events, and for networking with other movie blogs.
